How It Works

  • Encryption: Your message is encrypted with AES-GCM (256-bit), derived via PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations. Without the password, the data is mathematically irrecoverable.
  • Steganography: The encrypted bytes are hidden in the least-significant bits of each pixel's RGB channels. The image looks identical to the human eye.
  • Zero-knowledge: All processing happens in your browser. No data is transmitted anywhere.

The Golden Rules

  • Always save and share as PNG. Never convert to JPG, WEBP, or AVIF.
  • Never screenshot the encoded image — screenshots re-compress pixels and destroy the hidden data.
  • Do not edit the PNG in other software after encoding.

Sending Safely

  • On WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord — send as "File" or "Document", not as a Photo. Photos get compressed automatically.
  • Email attachments preserve PNG files correctly.
  • Security tip: Send the image and the password via different channels.

About Vör

  • In Norse mythology, Vör is the goddess of awareness — "so wise and searching that nothing can be concealed from her." The name means aware or careful.
  • This tool is named in her honour: a vault that hides information in plain sight, revealing it only to those with the awareness to look — and a key.
